Crow Truth: Breakthrough for the week of March 29, 2021

Fiction gives us empathy: it puts us inside the minds of other people, gives us the gifts of seeing the world through their eyes. Fiction is a lie that tells us true things, over and over.  —Neil Gaiman

Tell us a lie. Tell us a lie about your truth. Shape what isn’t into what is. Don’t tell us that you want the world to go back to normal. That is a waste of your imagination and your readers’ time. Tell us what scared you last week. Tell us what broke your heart. Tell us the first five lies you can think of – that you tell yourself. Don’t bother warning us that you are deceitful. We already know – because we harbor our own soothing falsehoods. We are crows, playing tricks.
